School Meals
At Carlinghow Academy we pride ourselves on the excellent standard of school meals we provide each day whilst meeting the Government’s guidelines on menu setting. Nutrition and a healthy balance are key factors in our menu development. Alongside this, ensuring the children enjoy their meals whilst balancing Government guidelines, personal preferences and seasonal options is a challenge we rise to. Children have the choice of up to four options each day to choose from for their school meals and these are ordered on the day, in classrooms.
We hope that all parents will agree that our school meals service is something we should value very highly.
Cost of School Meals
The cost of a school meal is £2.55 per meal for KS2 pupils. Payment is required in advance and can be made on-line via your Arbor Parent account.
Some KS2 pupils will qualify for a free school meal. Please follow the link below to check your eligibility and make an application or speak to a member of the office team.
School meals for KS1 are fully funded by the government.
Breakfast Club
We are pleased to be able to offer Breakfast club to all our families between 8-8.45am each morning. Places must be booked via the school office in advance of attending these sessions.
Breakfast is served at 8.00am followed by activities such as sports, ICT, creative activities, reading and games. All activities are supervised by trained staff in a safe and friendly environment where children aged 4-11 (full-time at Primary School) can take part in social, educational and recreational activities.
Please contact the school office for more information.
School Milk
School Milk
Currently children under the age of 5 have been receiving free milk at school, funded by the UK Government’s Nursery Milk scheme. When your child turns 5, milk continues to be available at a subsidised cost per term, this is via our milk supplier “Cool Milk”.
Drinking a portion of milk at mid-morning break offers protein, calcium and other vital nutrients, important for growth and development. It can also be a sensible way to bridge the gap between breakfast and lunch.
What you need to do:
If your child is currently under 5:
- Your child is currently receiving free milk at school as part of the UK Government’s Nursery Milk scheme.
- Simply register at Cool Milk and make payment at least ten days before your child turns 5 in order to continue with the scheme.
If your child is aged 5 or over:
- Visit Cool Milk and select the “Register your child for milk here” option on the main page. After registration, you may then make a pre-payment via your online account for the remaining half-term, term or academic year
If your child is currently over the age of 5 and entitled to statutory free school meals, there is no need to register. Simply speak to the school for further information.
Should you have any queries regarding your child’s registration or milk supply in general, please contact Cool Milk directly on 0800 321 3248 or via email to customerservices@coolmilk.com.
